    Express It In Yiddish:
to mean business, to be very serious, to be in earnest, be resolute, stick at nothing, to be tenacious, zealous
להראות שמתכוונים ברצינות, שזה לא משחק, אני אראה לו מי הבעל הבית כאן, מי שינצח, אני אלמד אותו מי שאני וכו'

    געבּן פּוּלווער צו שמעקן

    gebn pulver tsu shmekn

to give him gunpowder to smell

    לתת להריח אבק שריפה

Yiddish is rich with expressions. In fact, sometimes the same phrase can be said in a number of different ways. I try to bring the unique ones, where it is is not obvious from the literal translation what the expression means.
