Yiddish Expressions 3.10

Yiddish In 10 Lessons!! Not Only For Chanukah!!
A Great Way To Express Yourself!!  In YIDDISH!!

Express It In Yiddish:
when a doctor explains a condition in medical jargon, when you don't understand what was said to you, the discussion is way over your head, above your comprehension
כשרופא מסביר מצב רפואי בז'רגון רפואי, כשאתה לא מבין מה שמדברים אליך, הדיון הוא מעבר להבנתך

ער רעדט צו מיר טערקיש

er redt tsu mir terkish

it sounds like Turkish to me

זה נשמע לי טורקית

ס'איז פאר אים תרגום לשון

s'iz far em targem loshn

it's Unkelus' translation to him
(interpretation of the Torah that's hard to understand)

זה בשבילו תרגום אונקלוס

Yiddish is rich with expressions. In fact, sometimes the same phrase can be said in a number of different ways. I try to bring the unique ones, where it is is not obvious from the literal translation what the expression means
